How does live illustration works?

Accepted Answer

Laehui Studio will arrive approximately 30–60 minutes before the start of the event. After taking quick reference photos of the guests, the portraits will be painted on site while they enjoy the event. Guests can then pick up their portraits a few hours later.

Laehui Studio can also draw without photos, with guests posing in person. However, this usually creates a line, which can take time away from guests enjoying the event.

Question 2

How fast can you draw the portraits?

Accepted Answer

Watercolor portraits: about 7–12 minutes per portrait. On average, 5 to 8 portraits per hour will be completed.

Pencil or pen portraits: (without colors) about 4 to 5 minutes. On average, 10 to 15 portraits per hour will be completed.

The time required depends on facial features, outfit complexity, and level of detail, as well as short pauses, guest turnover, and interactions with the artist. All of these factors make it difficult to provide a precise estimate.

These timeframes reflect an efficient pace, while maintaining a high standard of quality.
As Laehui Studio is operated by a single artist, collaborations with other professional illustrators during events with a lot of guests are entirely possible. Additional guest portraits may also be completed in the studio after the wedding or event. Certain packages offer a special pricing for those additional portraits.

What if I have a lot of guests?

Accepted Answer

I offer to stay up to 8 hours with my full-day package. However, if that isn’t enough time, any guests who weren’t illustrated on site can be painted in the studio after the event, based on photos.

How much costs live illustration?

Shorter options starting from €800 are also available in the French Basque Country and Les Landes only.

How far do you travel? What are your fees?

Accepted Answer

Laehui Studio is based in Biarritz and Laury can travel to Paris, Bordeaux, Dordogne, Provence, San Sebastián, Madrid, and elsewhere upon request.
 • Within 25 km (≈ 15 miles) of Biarritz: travel included
 • Over 30 km (≈ 18 miles): 0.60€/km (≈ 0.1€/mile) — round trip miles applies
 • Over 200 km (≈ 125 miles): transportation (train or plane tickets, car rental) + accommodation (2–3 days depending on distance) + meals during the wedding or any long event
If you can provide some transportation or accommodation, these costs can be deducted.
✈️ Note: Laehui Studio has easy access to the Biarritz and San Sebastián airports and has a car, making travel easier.

What is included?

Each package includes:
 • Premium, high-quality art materials
 • Protective sleeves or envelopes
 • An A4 informational sign 
 • A complimentary detailed watercolor portrait of the couple (for full-day packages)
 • Setup time (included and not counted as on-site time)
 • From 3 to 8 continuous hours on-site presence

Question 7

What do we need to provide?

Please provide:
 • A table of at least 1 meter
 • A chair ideally with a backrest
 • A bright space, or a nearby power outlet
 • Shade or indoor space for sunny days
Optional, but appreciated:
 • A power outlet for longer services
 • Decorations

Question 8

Can the paper be personalized?

Accepted Answer

Of course! Several options are available:
 • Deckled edges (torn paper edges)
 • Custom stamp, date, names, or monogram
 • Pre-printed illustrated made-on-mesure background or borders
 • Kraft envelopes
 • Etc.
Some options must be approved 1–2 months in advance.
